Subject: Heritage Oak Tree Removal; Path to Reopen After Work is Completed
At the September 19, 2017 Town Council Meeting, the Yountville Town Council approved Resolution 17-3430 regarding the health and safety of the Hopper Creek “Grandfather” Heritage Oak Tree which authorized removal of the tree due to its declining health and safety impacts on adjacent property. The Town Council provided further direction that the removal of the tree is to be done in a manner that will facilitate the continued growth of the prodigy child oak tree associated with the “Grandfather Oak” for many years to come, thereby supporting a continuation of a circle of life.
The Town will be creating a storyboard commemorating the history of the “Grandfather Oak” and placing it along this section of the path.
The tree removal work will occur on October 11th and 12th. During this time, the Hopper Creek path in this area will continue to stay closed. The path will reopen after the work is completed and debris removed from the creek and path.
