Yountville Fire Update - 10/14-17 9:00 am

I have spoke with Napa County Fire Chief Barry Biermann and the situation remains stable. Yountville is not threatened and there is no evacuation notice in place or anticipated at this time. Fire generally stopped at Dry Creek Road. Bulldozers have constructed fire breaks in the foothills west of the Veterans Home as a defensive line. Strike teams are in that area as a defensive mechanism. Winds are heavy from the north (blowing to the south/southeast) which is away from Yountville which is favorable to Town of Yountville. Small Spot fire to northeast of Rector Reservoir from Atlas Fire with Fire crews and air response on the fire. The Nunns fire remains very active with fires advancing to our west in the foothills along CA 12 in Sonoma Valley with evacuation orders in the Sonoma area. You will continue to see heavy smoke to our west from the fire. Firefighters will be making heavy effort to fight active fire front to our west. Wind conditions will help to push smoke south but air quality remains poor and use of N95 masks is recommended. Napa County has declared a public health emergency due to the air quality issues.
