Subject: Help Select New Exercise Equipment at Vineyard Park!
Vineyard Park offers gorgeous views of vineyards and mountains and will soon offer high quality outdoor exercise equipment! The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (PRAC) reviews and provides feedback for improvements at Town parks. The current Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) includes a project to install outdoor fitness equipment to help residents stay fit and have a healthy lifestyle. This equipment is similar to what you would find in a gym, but built to withstand outdoor elements and use. This project will help meet an unmet community need for high quality, diverse and accessible exercise equipment, for residents who want a local fitness option.
Proposed Location and Project Background:
Vineyard Park is located in the eastern edge of the Vintage neighborhood off of Oak Circle. The park has existing infrastructure with a recreational focus featuring tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court area, restrooms/access to drinking water and a soft surface (rubberized mat) used for yoga, exercising and for stretching. Conveniently located along the Town’s extensive path network, this park offers stunning views of the vineyards and is considered a local favorite. What a great place to exercise with neighbors!
The proposed location of the exercise equipment is between the basketball court area and the rubberized mat, which will stay as is. The tree in this area will stay.
All of the proposed exercise equipment is designed to meet the needs of you-local residents! The project is American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible that will provide a great workout for residents of all ages and abilities.
Your Input is Valued—Help Us Select the Exercise Equipment
Residents are invited to take a short online survey to help select the exercise equipment and includes pictures and descriptions of eight (8) different options that will get narrowed down to five (5) options for installation. The survey results will be presented to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission at the January 18, 2018 meeting at 6:00 p.m., which is a publicly held meeting at 6550 Yount Street in the Town Council Chambers. The results of the survey will be made public and will help inform the Parks and Recreation Commission to make their decision. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting as well.
The survey period is from December 28, 2017 through January 10, 2018. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to help select outdoor exercise equipment!
