Subject: Opening Reception for “The Art of Tim Howe” at the Gallery at the Yountville Community Center

The opening reception for “The Art of Tim Howe” will be Saturday, March 10, 10:30 AM -12:00 PM at the Yountville Community Center Gallery. Mimosas and light bites will be provided.

The Yountville Arts Commission is pleased to offer this show for residents and visitors in the gallery from March 10 – May 14. Tim will also be participating in Yountville’s Art Sip & Stroll Saturday, April 28 in the Community Center Plaza and will offer his “Artist for a Day”, a three-hour painting class, on Saturday, May 12.

Howe is well-known in the Napa Valley, but he has traveled and lived in many places since his original art education. He hails from New Zealand and studied at the Wellington School of Design, in the country’s capitol. After graduation, he followed many of his peers by backpacking and traveling the world.

Howe eventually landed in San Diego where he established a graphic design studio and advertising agency. Ultimately he transitioned from commercial art to fine art. Soon after, he gained representation with numerous galleries across the country, but it was his passion for painting landscapes that led him to move to the Napa Valley. Tim also has a studio just outside Barcelona, Spain where he works part of each year.

Howe’s work reflects his contemporary interpretation of landscapes, showcasing his ability to incorporate impressionism to abstraction. The result is a varied body of work incorporating both brush and palette knife. Howe finds inspiration in the changing of the landscape throughout every season, especially in the Napa Valley, where the vines determine the calendar.

Tim’s paintings have been shown at various venues across the valley including Chateau Montelena, Rutherford Ranch, Brix, Marriott, Calistoga Ranch, Carneros Inn and the Meritage Resort. He also teaches painting classes at many of these venues. His paintings can even be seen on the sets of well-known movies and television shows.
