Subject: New – Duet Wheelchair Tandem Bike available for FREE checkout at the Yountville Community Center

Napa Valley Kids Connect, a Napa Valley Non-Profit that supports children’s access to language, curriculum, and movement, purchased a Duet Bike for the purpose of providing a unique opportunity for outdoor therapeutic recreation for people living with significant disabilities. Yountville Parks & Recreation is proud to partner to make this bike available to the Community for Free with an easy check out process.

The bike is a multi-speed tandem bicycle where the rear half of a bicycle frame attaches via quick-release hardware to a uniquely designed, stand-alone, wheelchair. The Wheelchair portion can be released to use separately for example if biking and you need a rest stop or to go into a restaurant.

The bike is available for check out:
Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. *Some evenings may be available*
Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Sundays from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
*Dates and holidays may be blocked out when the Community Center is closed.

The Bike must be reserved ahead of time and those checking out the bike must fill out and sign the form, sign the waiver and present their driver’s license or other government-issued ID at check out. The pilot must be over the age of 18, and both pilot and passenger must wear helmets at all times (We provide the helmets). The bicycle can accommodate a passenger and pilot of up to 250 pounds each.

Director Holland shares “With our proximity to the Vine Trail and the ease of cycling in and around Yountville, I think Yountville is the perfect spot to offer this service. We are proud to be a partner of Napa Valley Kids Connect.”
