Yountville Arts presents the debut of “5 i v e x 5 i v e - The COLLECTION ”, by Lake Tahoe & Napa Valley photographer, MJ SCHAER. Show debuts at the Yountville Community Center Gallery, January 24, 2019, with Artist Reception and Book Signing from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Light bites and beverages will be served. The show will continue to April 14, 2019.

This new collection of petite photographs depict a variety of nature, landscape, and still subjects, with each study specifically composed and photographed in a square format restricted to a 5”x 5” finished image, framed to a 10”x10” matted and framed format.

The “5 i v e x 5 i v e - The COLLECTION ” installation in the Yountville Community Center Gallery will be as unique as the collection itself. All framed images will be available for purchase as well as a Photo Book containing all show images.

The photographic journey of MJ SCHAER began in 1966 as a Navy photographer during the Vietnam War. His professional career began in 1968, encompassing 22 years of professional and collegiate sports, a freelance cinematographer for NFL Films and a plethora of commercial and corporate clientele. His passion for the Arts also encompassed designing and owning art galleries in La Jolla, San Francisco, and Napa Valley.

Retiring from the art business in 2009, MJ SCHAER stepped back to his roots and passion for photography and the outdoors, thus leading to the kind of images presented in this exhibit and sale.

Artist Statement
"I categorize my photography as the “Art-of-Freeze”© (Referencing to the cinematography term, “Freeze Frame”, a single frame depicting a motionless image), I am driven by a desire to visualize, capture and finalize that one-of-a-kind image, an instant in time that otherwise would never be seen again The most important element of a camera lens is the eye behind it” … MJ SCHAER

“5 i v e x 5 i v e - The COLLECTION ” will run from Thursday, January 17 through Friday, April 19, 2019. Gallery at the Community Center is under the direction of Yountville Arts and is located at 6516 Washington Street.
