Subject: Hazardous Waste Recycling Center Closing in March

Yountville’s Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center will be closing on March 29, 2019, due to changes in the recycling environment.

The Recycling Center, which is located at the Yountville Corporation Yard, will be taken out of commission after discussions between the Town and Napa County. For the Center to continue to meet the State requirements, the Town would need trained staff members dedicated to monitor and assess the products that are dropped off at the center at all times during its hours of operations which would take Town staff away from other daily tasks. The Recycling Center also has had illegal recycling of hazardous waste which is not permitted at the site. The Town and County could be fined by the State regulators if disposal of illegal hazardous waste continues.

The Town recommends residents use alternative recycling and waste service providers. To find the nearest recycling center or curbside service provider, contact Napa County at (707) 253-4351. For more detailed information on how to reuse, donate, recycle or safely dispose of your items, check out the Recycling Guide at the Napa Valley Recycling & Waste page.
