The Town of Yountville Planning and Building Department is responsible for providing planning, building, and code enforcement services. The Planning Department’s goal is to administer and fulfill the objectives of the General Plan, provide applicants with efficient permit processing services and provide citizens appropriate opportunities to participate in land use decisions.
Planning duties include current and advanced planning services, environmental documentation, and housing programs. Building services include building inspections, building permit processing, and plan checking and are provided by Coastland Engineering on contract. Engineering provides improvement plan checking, mapping, drainage improvement plan checking, grading inspections, and capitol projects management.

Zoning & Design Review Board (ZDRB) The Zoning and Design Review Board (ZDRB) is a separate body, created by the Town Council, that discusses planning matters in public session, considers public comments, offers advice to the Town Council, and has authority as granted by the Town’s Zoning and Design Ordinance. The ZDRB primarily reviews development proposals for residential design review, variances, sign review, lot line adjustments, and recommendations to the Town Council.
