The challenge is complete – now it’s time to jubilate! Join Yountville Arts for the Bookmark Story Celebration on Thursday, September 25, from 5:30–7:00 PM in the Heritage Room of the Community Center, 6516 Washington Street.

Ever wonder what it takes to create a Bookmark Story? One writer said (in 54 words): “Creating a 60-word story helps all my other compositions. It focuses me to the essence of what I want to express. No baggage. No fluff. Cut to the chase. Make every word, every syllable, as creative and powerful as possible. If you can create a surprise finish, the story provokes even more appeal.” The results are impressive.
This event is sponsored by Yountville Arts, Napa County Libraries, and Friends of the Yountville Library. Guests will join the people who support the contest and who will talk about why this technique of writing can be useful. Jurors, who read 90+ entries from all ages, will share suggestions for writing a strong story. And the exciting ingredient of the evening is… you’ll hear the winning and honorable mention stories read by the authors, along with their insights into creating micro compositions. Copies of the bookmarks with the winning stories also will be available.
“The Bookmark Stories contest is one of those rare projects that brings every generation together through creativity and storytelling. It’s inspiring to see how 60 words can hold such imagination. We are proud to bring our community’s big voices to appear on small bookmarks,” states Project Chair Geoffrey Leigh.
Join us for an inspiring and fun evening while you also get the scoop about next year’s contest. The Celebration is open to the public and there is no admission charge. We do encourage you to get a free ticket to make sure everyone has a seat. Tickets are available here: https://tinyurl.com/BookMarkStories. Lite bites and refreshments will be served.
