Yountville Arts announces an exciting community event to foster creativity and add a touch of whimsy to our charming town. We invite all residents and businesses to participate in a Scarecrow Making Contest where you can showcase your imagination and craftsmanship while contributing to the vibrant spirit of our community. Whether you're an experienced artist, an average Joe, a child, or a local business, let us unite through creativity and celebrate our community.
The contest encourages participants to design and construct their very own scarecrow to be displayed at the Community Center Plaza. The scarecrows will add a festive atmosphere to the plaza and embody the unique character and artistic talents of Yountville's residents and businesses. Creativity knows no bounds, so let your imagination soar! Whether you choose a traditional, quirky, or avant-garde approach, we encourage you to create scarecrows that reflect your individuality.
In addition to the honor of showcasing your scarecrow in the heart of our community, a prize awaits the winners of this friendly competition, adding an extra incentive to put your best scarecrow-making skills to the test!
Your scarecrows must withstand the weather conditions of Yountville. Therefore, we encourage participants to utilize sturdy materials and construction techniques that will ensure the longevity of their creations. Scarecrows can be staked into the ground if needed. Let's make these scarecrows weather-resistant so they may enchant our community throughout the season.
Important Dates and Submission Details
- Submission Deadline: October 2. 2023
Please email yountvillearts@yville.com to let us know you will be participating. - Scarecrow Display: October 16 – November 5, 2023
Please deliver your scarecrow to the Yountville Community Center between the hours of 9 AM – 4 PM on Monday, October 16. We will assist you in placing and installing. When delivering your scarecrow we will ask you for your scarecrow’s name, who made it and any business or sponsor information which will be displayed along with your scarecrow. Please note scarecrows can be picked up November 6. Scarecrows left after November 8 will be disposed of. Please contact us if alternative arrangements are needed. - Location: Yountville Community Center Plaza, 6516 Washington Street Yountville, CA.
