Town Council Study Session and Meeting

On Tuesday, November 7, the Town Council met for an afternoon of community engagement and decision-making. A study session on housing was held where insightful discussions unfolded, highlighting the need for affordable housing in our town. In the regular council meeting that followed, Town Council received informative presentations from the Napa County Sheriff's Office, CalFire/Napa County Fire, and the Yountville Arts Commission. Notably, town staff also provided essential information regarding a recent boil water notices, prompting the proposal of forming a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with CalVet and the City of Napa for shared services including laboratory testing for the water supply. The resolution to move forward with this collaborative approach was approved, signifying a significant step toward improving our town's essential services and overall community well-being.

Behind the Scenes: Yountville's Designed Storm Drainage

Today, we invite you to the Town's stormwater management along Hopper Creek and its journey to Beard Ditch. As we trace the course from upstream to downstream, you will gain insights to the strategic and purposeful systems in place that are designed for the rainy season and learn more about Yountville's weirs.

What is a weir? A weir is a barrier or structure placed across a river, stream, or other watercourse to alter the flow characteristics of the water and control its depth. Weirs often consist of a series of steps or a notch that creates a change in water elevation, allowing for the desired manipulation of water levels.

Holiday Tree Lighting

Gobble galore! Our turkey hunt adventure is on, and guess what? There are 15 sneaky turkeys playing hide-and-seek, but only 5 have been found this week! It's a feathered frenzy out there as we tiptoe and giggle, trying to outsmart those tricky turkeys. Let the hunt continue, and may the best explorer find the most gobblers!

Fall Street Sweeping

Street Sweeping Schedule: During the autumn season, extra street sweeping is conducted on Fridays to collect fallen leaves. We kindly request property owners to deposit their leaves in their designated green waste containers and refrain from creating leaf piles in the street, storm drains, or Hopper Creek. Land Use Applications/Projects and or Related Information

Staff Received a resubmittal for the Yountville Crossroads (Oak & Vine Subdivision) project, which is currently in review for completeness.

Staff continues to work with project applicants regarding current Land Use applications for the following: 6867 Jefferson Street, 6630 Jefferson Street, the Humboldt Mixed-Use project on the vacant lot at the corner of Humboldt and Jefferson, the French Laundry Garden, R+D Master Development Plan Amendment and New Use Permit, and Design Review for 2 Heritage Court remodel.

Jessup Cellars – Staff continues to analyze the property owner for Jessup Cellars request to look into the process for converting the housing unit that is on-site into a private tasting room.

Silver Trident – Staff are currently processing the Land Use Application for a transfer of use permit to relocate their business to 6484 Washington Street, Suite G (previously occupied by Heron House). This is likely an administrative process because the Heron House use permit has not yet expired and may be transferred.

Residential Rental Permits – The department has seen an increase in residential rental permit renewals for 2024. As of October 1, 2023, Rental registration for the year 2024 is open, which can be accessed by logging into your Yountville Citizen Portal and renewing your permit, here: https://yountvilleca.portal.opengov.com/

Low Income Household Water Assistance

Great news! There's a program called the Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) that helps families with money challenges get access to clean and safe water. LIHWAP gives financial support to those who need help paying for water-related expenses. It's all about making sure everyone in our community can afford this essential need.
