Yountville Connection

Community Coming Together

Building strong community bonds with our neighbors is a vital aspect of creating a vibrant and supportive environment for all. When we connect with those around us, we not only forge meaningful friendships but also create a sense of belonging and solidarity within our town.

Engaging with our neighbors allows us to share experiences, resources, and support, creating a network that strengthens the fabric of our community. Whether it's lending a helping hand during times of need, celebrating milestones together, or simply enjoying each other's company, these interactions enrich our lives and contribute to a sense of shared identity and purpose.

We are thrilled that the First Wednesdays Community Cookouts with Fire Station 12 have been well attended! These gatherings provide an opportunity for residents to come together, share a meal, and engage in lively conversation with town council, staff, our firefighters, and fellow neighbors. Through these events, we not only deepen our connections with each other but also build bridges between our community and the dedicated first responders who serve and protect us.

By actively participating in community events and collaborating on neighborhood projects, we demonstrate our dedication to creating a more inclusive, resilient, and compassionate community! We look forward to seeing everybody at the cookout on May 1st!

Check out the short video below to see how fun and educational Wednesday's last cookout was!

Council Meeting Update

The April 2 regular council meeting commenced with an introduction of Sergeant James Baumgartner. He will be succeeding Sergeant Mike Milat, who announced that he will be retiring in May. This was followed by the proclamation of April as both Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. These proclamations underscored the community's commitment to addressing these critical issues.

Prior to the meeting, Mayor Mohler and the Town Council made a significant gesture by installing 109 blue pinwheels at the Community Center Plaza, symbolizing the substantiated child abuse cases in Napa County. The pin wheel display is in collaboration with  Cope Family Centers  to raise awareness about child abuse prevention.

On the Consent Calendar, Michael Minnillo was appointed to the Affordable and Workforce Housing Oversight Committee (Measure S) to fill an unexpired term of office, effective immediately until October 1, 2024.

Finally, Resolution 24-4257 was adopted, approving the Expenditure Plan for the proposed Napa Valley Transportation Authority – Tax Agency’s Transportation Improvement Act "Measure U". This measure aims to continue a Transaction and Use Tax for enhancing local streets and roads and investing in regional capital projects.

The  full agenda packet and meeting video  are available if you'd like more information about the meeting.

Save the Date - April 21 from 4-7 PM

You are invited to a Community Celebration for Jennifer Carvalho on Sunday, April 21, from 4-7 PM. The program begins at 4:30 PM at Yountville Community Park.

Join friends and neighbors to honor and dedicate a sculpture in Yountville Park to Jennifer for her contributions to and care for our community, both as a town employee for 30 years and as a resident member of numerous town service groups. This community-sponsored event aims to thank her and celebrate the difference made by Jennifer’s generous dedication to us all.

This is a Potluck, so please bring small bites/finger foods to share—either homemade or purchased. Wine and drinks would also be welcome. Let’s make this a great party!

Additionally, if you have any photographs of Jennifer or activities you or a family member participated in with Jennifer, please copy them and bring them along for our photo line. If you don’t have any photos, don’t despair! We will have a photo area where you can create a photo memory to be included in a special “book” for Jennifer to keep.

And while we are at it, come prepared to write a few lines for the memory book as well!
