Employee SpotlightThis month, we shine a spotlight on two new additions to our Town team: - Nyah McWilliams, our new Recreation Coordinator. Nyah brings valuable experience in planning community events, outreach, and marketing, gained from her role at Mentis of Napa. She is also an active member of the Young Professionals of Napa Valley and was honored with the Hilary Zunin CanDO Spirit Award in 2022 for her outstanding contributions to the Napa County nonprofit sector. In her free time, Nyah enjoys hiking and roller skating.
- Michael Quinn, joining us as Utility Operator in Public Works. Michael is a Napa native returning to the Napa Valley after serving in the U.S. Navy, where he received an Honorable Discharge as a Nuclear Machinist Mate, operating water, steam, and seawater systems for nuclear submarine propulsion. Thank you for your service, Michael!
We also celebrate the work anniversaries of several dedicated members of our community: - Brad Raulston, Town Manager, 1 year
- Samantha Holland, Parks and Recreation Director, 14 years
- Celia King, Administrative Services Director, 20 years
Please join us in thanking them for their hard work and dedication to making Yountville a wonderful place to live and visit!

Yountville Commons UpdateFor those folks out and about Town, you may have noticed some activity at the Yountville Commons site (formerly the Yountville Elementary School site). With the Town’s recent acquisition of that property and the goal to put it to beneficial use, Town staff have been working diligently to breathe life back into the decommissioned site. Town Public Works Staff and contractors working on the Town’s behalf have been busy performing the following: - All new key access to all of the buildings and facilities on site
- Reinstate and update the Fire Alarm and replace all the fire extinguishers
- Install IT infrastructure to overlay Town WiFi onto the Multi-Purpose Building
- Repair the failing sanitary sewer lateral serving the primary restrooms on the site
- Repair the failing roofs on two of the three buildings for near term use
- Install locally controlled HVAC Thermostat controls
- Remove all of the school site appurtenances no longer needed for that use
- Remove specific trees per the Town Arborist recommendation
- Trip hazard mitigation across the property with precision concrete cutting
- Remove and replace out of compliant ADA ramp
- Grind and overlay the parking lot
- Crack seal and seal coat all of the asphalt surfaces
- Inspect both playgrounds and place renewed engineered mulch in both locations
The work described above was driven by a great opportunity identified by our Parks and Recreation Department which is to host Camp Y-Ville on the property based out of the newly acquired Multi-Purpose building, freeing up space and time in the Community Center to maintain regular programming. Success was achieved this past Monday when Parks and Recreation staff welcomed up to 80 kids to kick-off Camp Y-Ville which will continue on the Yountville Commons site through to August 13th. That said, there remains a fair amount of work to be conducted on site which Town staff is managing while accommodating the camp use. Stay tuned for more activity after the kids have gone back to school. The Town will be sending out timeline with engagement opportunities next week. Your participation and feedback are valued as we move forward with this important project.

Planning & Building Land Use Projects and Other Applications - Planning and Building staff received the resubmittal for the Pancha’s project. It is now under review for completeness. The project is tentatively scheduled for the August 13 ZDRB meeting. In June, both ZDRB and Town Council heard and approved the Yountville Mad Fritz at Jessup Cellars Use Permit and Master Development Plan Amendment. We look forward to welcoming the new business to town. The 1980 Yountville Crossroads will return for further discussion at the July 16 agenda for consideration.

Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA) UpdateThe Napa Valley Transportation Authority is collaborating with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission on multi-modal safety and operational improvements on SR 29 Up Valley in Oakville and Rutherford. Proposed improvements include: - Adding a compact roundabout at SR 29 and Oakville Cross Road.
- Signalization and safety enhancements at SR 29 and Rutherford Road.
These options aim to significantly improve safety and reduce congestion for all modes of transportation along the SR 29 corridor. SR 29 serves as the sole contiguous north-south route connecting Napa to Lake and Solano counties, crucial during emergencies like wildfires. NVTA will also study potential improvements at SR 29 and Madison Street in Yountville in the near future. Take the Survey: Share your thoughts on the proposed improvements by June 30, 2024.
