Savor the Sunshine: Summer Starts Now

The first day of summer arrives tomorrow, June 21 and brings with it warm sunshine, vibrant community spirit, and exciting happenings all around Town.

We’re kicking off the season with a celebration! Join us tomorrow for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the Coop at 11 AM. While you're there, step into the brand-new Locals Lounge at Yountville Commons. The Locals Lounge is a relaxed spot to cool off, catch a Town Council meeting (or game) on the big screen, connect with neighbors, and munch on your snacks from the Coop.

Pride in the Park is also happening this weekend on Sunday, June 22 from 3 to 6 PM at Veterans Memorial Park. The afternoon will feature a high-energy dance party with DJ Rotten Robbie, live music by The Lucky Devils Band, children’s activities, lawn games, face painting, and plenty of treats including snowcones and Ben & Jerry’s. Enjoy wine tastings from local wineries and special appearances including a performance by A La Mode.

There’s no better time to explore all that Yountville has to offer. Whether you’re strolling through Town, visiting a local park, or simply enjoying a summer evening with friends, we invite you to get outside and make the most of the season.

Living Well, Right Where We Are

Around the world, there are five regions known as Blue Zones®—Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; and Loma Linda, California. In these communities, people live longer, healthier lives thanks to a culture built around daily movement, strong social ties, plant-forward meals, and a deep sense of purpose.

That same framework has been brought home to Napa County. The Upper Napa Valley was officially designated a Blue Zones Community last summer. Here in Yountville, we’re proud to be part of this growing movement through our Yountville Blue wellness campaign.

Whether you’re walking to grab your morning coffee, tending a garden, or meeting friends at the Community Center, you’re already engaging in the kinds of small, daily habits that add up to lifelong well-being.

This week, we’re focusing on two powerful Blue Zones principles: Purpose and Community. Research shows that people who feel a strong sense of purpose and stay connected to others live significantly longer and experience greater happiness. That might mean volunteering with a meaningful nonprofit, joining a walking group, or simply making time for more face-to-face conversations with your neighbors.

Wellness isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about the way we live each day. With Yountville Blue, we’re embracing a lifestyle that makes feeling good a natural part of living here.

Help Shape the Future of Walking and Biking in Napa County

The Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA) is developing the first-ever Countywide Active Transportation Plan, and your input is essential. This plan will create a safer, more connected network of bike and pedestrian pathways across Napa County, making it easier and more enjoyable for people of all ages to walk and bike for everyday travel.

You can explore the plan and provide feedback now at NapaATPlan.org. The site features an interactive map where you can leave comments and suggestions about walking and biking conditions in your neighborhood and throughout the region.

NVTA will also be hosting outreach events through August 2025 and releasing a community survey soon. Public input will help guide local investments in safety, access, and environmental improvements.

Whether you walk, bike, or just want safer streets for everyone, now is the time to get involved. Visit NapaATPlan.org to learn more and make your voice heard.

MCE Calpine

More Renewable Power for Napa and Beyond

Starting June 1, MCE is delivering 7 megawatts of new geothermal energy to more than 15,000 homes and businesses across its service area—including Napa County. This reliable, 24/7 clean power comes from The Geysers, the world’s largest geothermal complex, located in nearby Lake and Sonoma counties and operated by Calpine.

MCE is the first buyer to tap into Calpine’s new 25-megawatt expansion project, helping ensure cleaner air, stable energy rates, and a more resilient electric grid. The project also includes a $50,000 community benefit fund to support access to clean energy and green job opportunities in underserved areas throughout MCE’s four-county service area.
