Happy Thanksgiving from the Town of Yountville

As we celebrate this season of gratitude, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the people who make Yountville such a special place to live, work, and visit.

To our residents, thank you for your ongoing engagement, your kindness, and the community pride you bring to Yountville.

To our volunteers, thank you for sharing your time and energy and helping make so many of our programs possible.

To our visitors, thank you for choosing Yountville and adding to the vibrancy and welcoming spirit of our town.

To our Town departments, staff, and partners, thank you for the dedication and professionalism you bring to work each day.

To our elected officials, thank you for your thoughtful leadership and for helping guide our shared future.

This season of gratitude reminds us that Yountville thrives because of the many ways our community is proudly serving one another through public service, volunteerism, civic engagement, and everyday acts of care. Thank you for being an essential part of what makes our town so special.

We wish you and your loved ones a warm, safe, and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday.

Make Happiness a Habit

Research highlighted by Blue Zones shows that happiness, health, and longevity are closely linked and that small daily habits can make a meaningful difference. One of the simplest is the “three good things” practice: taking a moment each day to reflect on a few positive experiences, no matter how small. Over time, this habit helps build gratitude, strengthen resilience, and support overall wellbeing.

If you’d like to try it, consider noting three things each day such as:

  • Something that went well, even if it was small.

  • A moment of connection, like a kind word or gesture.

  • Something that brought comfort or joy, such as a favorite meal, a peaceful walk, or a quiet pause.

The 9th Annual Yountville Town and Tree Lighting

Kick off the holiday season with one of Yountville’s most cherished traditions. The Town of Yountville and the Yountville Chamber of Commerce invite you to the 9th Annual Town and Tree Lighting on Sunday, November 23, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Yountville Community Center Plaza.

Join Mayor Mohler and a special visit from Santa as we count down to the official lighting of the Town Tree. The evening will include a festive holiday performance by the Napa High School Vocal Music Workshop and plenty of seasonal cheer for all ages.

Families are welcome to arrive early for holiday crafts, activities, and outdoor train rides at the Community Center from 4:00 to 5:45 p.m. The Tree Lighting ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m.

In the spirit of giving, attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Napa Valley.

This annual event is free and open to the entire community. We look forward to celebrating the start of the holiday season with you.

Visit the New Yountville Holiday Kiosk

The Town of Yountville and the Yountville Chamber are excited to open our first-ever Holiday Kiosk, located near the Community Center and Post Office driveways. The kiosk will be open seven days a week throughout the season and offers a convenient place for residents and visitors to pick up Yountville-branded merchandise and locally made gifts.

From cozy apparel and reusable items to unique small-batch goods created by local artisans, the Holiday Kiosk is designed to make gift giving simple while supporting our community. Staff and volunteers will be on hand to assist shoppers and share information about Yountville events and programs.

We invite you to stop by, explore the kiosk, and enjoy a little holiday cheer right in the heart of Town.

Yountville Holiday Artisan Faire

In addition to the Holiday Kiosk, our community has even more opportunities to shop local and support regional makers.

The holiday season offers a special opportunity to slow down, connect with our community, and choose gifts that reflect thoughtfulness and local pride.

The Yountville Holiday Artisan Faire embodies that spirit, bringing together more than 40 local and regional makers whose work celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and the character of our valley.

Held at the Yountville Community Center Plaza, the Faire is a chance to discover handcrafted goods, specialty items, and festive décor while supporting small businesses and the artisans who help make our community vibrant. Whether you are shopping for loved ones or looking to be inspired, the Faire is a meaningful way to experience the season.

Oak Circle Spillway Enhancements and New Safety Features

The Town continues to make progress on improvements at the Oak Circle spillway to support better stormwater flow and address drainage concerns in the neighborhood. Recent work includes the installation of a new camera system at the site. Residents can now view the live stream on the Town’s website or through the SeeClickFix app, offering real-time visibility during storm events.

To help explain the recent work, Public Works Director John Ferons recorded a brief video summarizing the spillway enhancements. A link to the video is included below for those who would like to learn more about the improvements and their purpose.

The Town is also moving forward with an early warning system designed to provide clear, timely information when creek levels rise. Automated warning lights will be installed at the spillway and will activate when the creek reaches predetermined thresholds. A yellow light will signal elevated water levels and prompt nearby residents to take precautionary steps, such as moving vehicles. If conditions worsen, the system will shift to a red light, indicating that the area should be avoided for safety reasons. The system will not include any auditory sirens or sound.

These upgrades reflect the Town’s ongoing commitment to neighborhood safety, transparent communication, and reliable access to information during severe weather.

How to Space on Your iPhone and Android Phone: A Quick Guide to Freeing Up Storage

Our phones hold so much more than apps and messages—they hold our memories. From holiday photos to videos of family gatherings, it doesn’t take long for those precious moments to fill up your storage. And when you’re trying to capture a new memory only to see the dreaded “Storage Full” notification, it can be frustrating.

The good news is that a little cleanup can go a long way. Whether you're using an iPhone or Android device, here are simple, effective ways to free up space and keep your phone ready for the moments that matter most.

Is your phone constantly warning you about low storage? Whether you're trying to snap a photo, install an app, or update your software, running out of space can be a real hassle. Fortunately, there are easy ways to clean up your device and reclaim valuable storage—whether you're using an iPhone or an Android phone.

iPhone: Smart Ways to Free Up Space

1. Check Your Storage Usage
Navigate to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
You’ll see a visual breakdown of what’s taking up space—apps, media, messages, and more.

2. Offload Unused Apps
Turn on Offload Unused Apps to automatically remove apps you rarely use, while keeping their data intact for future use.

3. Optimize Photo Storage
Enable iCloud Photos and select Optimize iPhone Storage to keep smaller versions of your photos locally and store full-resolution versions in the cloud.

4. Clear Safari Cache
Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data to remove cached files and browsing history.

5. Manage Messages
Set messages to auto-delete after 30 days or 1 year: Settings > Messages > Keep Messages.

Android: Clean Up and Speed Up

1. Review Storage Usage
Go to Settings > Storage to see what’s using space.
Tap categories like Photos, Apps, or Files to manage them directly.

2. Clear App Cache
Visit Settings > Apps, choose an app, and tap Clear Cache to remove temporary files.

3. Use Google Photos
Back up your media to the cloud and enable Storage Saver to reduce file sizes without sacrificing quality.

4. Delete Old Downloads
Open your Files app and sort by size or date to find and remove outdated or duplicate files.

5. Uninstall Unused Apps
Long-press on apps you no longer use and tap Uninstall to free up space instantly.

Universal Tips for Both Platforms

Use Cloud Storage: Services like Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive can help offload documents and media.

Stream Instead of Downloading: Use streaming apps for music and video to avoid large downloads.

Regular Maintenance: Set a monthly reminder to clean up your storage and keep your device running smoothly.

Keeping your phone clutter-free not only frees up space but also improves performance and battery life. With just a few minutes of maintenance, you can keep your device fast, efficient, and ready for whatever comes next.
