Subject:        Book Barrel Libraries Opening in Town

“Carrie Hays and Karla Reyff of Washington Park are rolling out some barrels… barrels full of books for Yountville!”

The Town of Yountville invites all community members to attend the unveiling of the Book Barrel Little Libraries. These barrels will serve as free book libraries and will be strategically placed in public areas around Yountville for the reading enjoyment of locals and visitors of all ages.

The “take a book… leave a book” wine barrels were designed and built by Gregory Gilkey of the Arts and Crafts Center at the Veterans’ Home and by Jim Taylor of Rancho de Napa.

The first Barrel Library unveiling will take place at Hopper Creek pocket park adjacent to the French Laundry on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. These book barrels were funded by the Town Small Projects “Happiness” Grant. The idea for the libraries was design by residents Carrie Hays and Karla Reyff. The placement and installation efforts were led by Jake Costa of Rancho de Napa with the assistance from the Public Works Department.
