Subject:       Update on Town of Yountville Community Events and Programs

As we head into July, your Parks & Recreation Department and Town staff have been actively reviewing, tracking and researching if and when we can resume some events and activities. As you know, the COVID-19 Pandemic is still very active. As our communities reopen with guidance from Public Health and testing continues to be more widely available and accessible, we will see cases rise. We are learning that our best defense is to wear a face covering anytime you are out in public and near anyone who doesn’t live in your immediate household (This includes friends, extended family and neighbors), not gathering with people outside of your household and hand hygiene. We know that gathering = virus spread. When around close friends and family, we tend to relax and forget to practice distancing and wear face coverings.

As we analyze the programs and events that would typically make up a summer here in Yountville, we are forced to make some difficult decisions based on Public Health Guidance. Our focus is the health and safety of our residents. We understand that these are challenging times and that some of our residents may be feeling the effects of isolation. We encourage you to reach out and be added to our weekly call list where staff check in and chat for a bit. We can also share information about our online classes and groups and even assist with getting you up and running with your iPad, Phone or Computer to use those online resources. We are offering 17 online classes and groups right now and are looking to expand that offering with more classes starting in September!

As we continue to adapt to the changing world we are living in, just know that we are here for you! The programs and services might look different, but we are here, working each day to keep you healthy and connected in Yountville. Reach out if you have questions or ideas!
