Sharon's goal is to make art that is dimensional and colorful. She accomplishes this through weaving. This unique exhibit will feature 18 works of woven art that begin hours before Sharon sits down at the loom. Her process can begin with color blending on paper where colors express the idea, mood or emotion that she is looking for. Then Sharon then chooses a weaving technique.

Life Yarn

"This mid-west born "girl" has always had the creative urge whether living in Ohio, Louisiana or California.  It seems like I've been weaving all my life but it's only been a short 40+ years.  In between weaving and working in public schools with communicatively challenged children I've been married to my middle school sweet heart for over 50 years and have two talented and successful daughters, who along with their husbands, have given us delightful granddaughters.  Now from my Napa Valley studio I continue to weave an occasional scarf or necklace, many tapestries and weft face rugs using the shaft switching technique.  I'm primarily self taught but have benefited greatly from the excellent teachers in classes and workshops and the textile books that focused on color, design and technique.  I am a happy and willing student in the "What if" continuing education school. THURSDAY, APRIL 16th  5:30 - 7 PM

California native Marvin Humphrey has lived and worked in St Helena since 1993, where he served as a postman for many years, and where his paintings have earned a loyal following of local and visiting collectors. He has an Art Degree from San Diego State, where he served as cartoonist for the Daily Aztec newspaper.  In 50+ years, he has painted and sold more than 3000 oil paintings. His witty work is known for its pun-filled titles and trompe l’oeildepictions, most rendered in small-scale framed oil paintings. Says Humphrey: “At times, the inspiration is simply the visual beauty of the subject; at other times, it’s the fun of illustrating a thought, catch-word, phrase, homonymic pun, or cliché with a twist.”

Show continues through July 17.
