Law Enforcement Services
The Town has contracted with the Napa County Sheriff’s Office to provide law enforcement services to the Town since incorporation on February 4, 1965. In 1997, at the town’s request, those services were increased to include three dedicated personnel, 1-sergeant (who acts as a department head and patrol supervisor) and 2-patrol deputies. These three (3) dedicated positions are further supported by the full resources of the Napa County Sheriff’s Office and town staff.

Napa Sheriff’s Office and Cal Fire encourage residents to sign up for Nixle
Several Napa County agencies are using Nixle to keep the public informed of traffic advisories, public safety emergencies, crime trends, safety tips, as well as department sponsored events. As flood season approaches, this service will be used to advise the public of road closures, hazardous situations, and recommendations. Don’t miss out on this “real time” opportunity to stay informed!

Nixle is a community information service provider built exclusively to provide secure and reliable communications. The Napa Police Department, Napa City Fire, CHP, County Roads, and the Sheriff’s Office are all participating agencies. This means that representatives from each agency are able to provide information to members of the community who have chosen to receive messages from us.

You choose how you want to receive your information, whether by text message over your mobile device, through e-mails, or through web access. Text messages are short and do not contain photos. E-mail contains more information and you can click on the Nixle link of the e-mail to view any attached photos.

After you register, you can then select what type of information you want to receive and from whom. Types are: Alerts (many would refer to this as an emergency type alert), Advisories (less urgent need-to-know information), Community Information (day-to-day neighborhood to community-level information), and Traffic.

Again, this service is completely free. Text notifications are subject to text charges, based upon subscriber’s cellular phone contract. However, you may choose not to receive text messages, and select e-mail only.

Sign up now and encourage your friends, family, and co-workers to take advantage of this great opportunity. To register and learn more about Nixle go to  You may also contact Captain Tracey Stuart at the Sheriff’s Office with any questions at 253-4475.
