Floodplain Management

The Town of Yountville Public Works Department is responsible for managing the Town’s floodplain needs. Our priority is to make sure that the public is well informed and safe from flooding. The Drainage and Flood Control Program includes maintenance and modification of storm drainage systems and waterways within the Town to manage and reduce the impacts of flooding from the Napa River, Hopper Creek and Hinman Creek. Town's existing hydrologic study is the primary tool for determining the appropriate method and level of storm drainage and waterway improvements, maintenance, and management.

Flood management projects implemented by the Town include:
- Construction of the Flood Weirs at Three Weirs Park
-Construction of the designated flood water overflow down Oak Circle to Beard Ditch
-Construction of the flood wall at Rancho de Napa and Bella Vista neighborhoods.

In addition to the creeks, channels and Flood Barrier, the Town maintains the storm drain system that includes storm drain pipe ranging in size from 4 inch to 42 inches in diameter, as well as drop inlets, curb inlets, junction boxes and storm drain manholes.
