Service Line Warranty of America Program

NLC Service Line Warranty ProgramThe Town has partnered with Service Line Warranties of America to offer three low cost optional and voluntary repair projection programs! There are no annual or lifetime limits, service fees or deductibles - just protection when you need it most! No public funds are used to promote or administer the program. During Fall 2016, you may have received information regarding the Sewer Program.

Currently, residents can voluntarily sign up for the Outside Water Service Line. Did you know that necessary repairs to the water line that runs between your home and the public utility connection are the responsibility of the homeowner?

Providing Optional External Water and Sewer Line ProtectionIn-Home Plumbing will be the third program in this installment. This program will be offered in the next campaign. However, any or all of the programs are available now if you are interested in those additional products. Sign up for all three programs at once!

The water service line buried underground on your property is subjected to the same elements that can cause our public service lines to decay-age, ground shifting, root invasion, fluctuating temperatures and more. This line can break down without warning, leaving you responsible for the cost of repair or replacement. Replacement of this line can be expensive-costing you thousands of dollars in unforeseen expenses-and that can be hard on a budget.

The Town of Yountville has partnered with SLWA to offer its residents protection for repairs to their water service line. This voluntary service line repair program provides repair coverage for your outside water line, up to $4,000 per covered incident with no deductibles or annual caps, and is the only service line protection program for homeowners fully supported by Yountville and endorsed by the National League of Cities. This program provides a 24-hour emergency hotline, 365 days a year.

The Town Council understands the importance of water conservation and protecting the environment. While efforts are underway in many communities to improve public water and sewer systems, these fixes don't address the sewer line located on your property. Homeowners can spend from hundreds of dollars up to $3,900 to repair or replace a broken, clogged or leaking sewer line on their property - and that can be hard on a budget.

The SLWA Service Line Warranty Program protects against leaks, breaks and clogs due to normal wear and tear, age, ground shifting and tree root intrusion. If a customer's line is in need of repair, a simple call to the SLWA 24-hour hotline will dispatch a local, licensed contractor familiar with local code. The program provides up to $4,000 per incident for external sewer line repairs with an additional allowance for public street cutting. Residents will have the option to select from three different programs: Water Line Protection, Sewer Line Protection and In-Home Plumbing Repair-and you can sign up for all three at once!

"Homeowners believe that the pipes located on their property will last forever or that the Town will repair the line if it breaks," said Town Manager Rogers. "That's simply not the case. Many factors contribute to the life expectancy of a line such as tree root intrusion, ground shifting, weather and age - all factors which are covered through the Service Line Warranties of America protection program."
